Blog language and Blog etiquette

Hi all:

Just want to be clear that you all understand the purpose and usefulness of this space. We must speak in complete sentences when posting here. When you want to say "for" the abbreviation "4" is not acceptable. This is not an Instant Message or an email to your friends. Please be sure to use proper english when posting. Thanks!

There are entirely too many late-comers to this class. What I will start doing is administering a quiz for the first 10 minutes of class time if this continues. The quizzes WILL count towards your overall grade. Remember to check today's lesson on the Lesson Page.

You need to remember that each day's lesson will be posted either the same day OR within a day of our class meeting. If you miss something, I will NOT go back in class and review specifics day to day. If you are late, you are responsible for making up the work. This blog is the key to succeeding. If you are not checking it, you are not doing your nightly homework.

Below, please find the rules we discussed in class. This must be signed by your parents and/or guardian and you, the student. Please return a signed copy of these rules to me by September 12, 2006.

Classroom Rules and Procedures

Classroom Procedures:

-Students will enter the class in an orderly manner, be seated, and immediately begin working on the warm-up activity posted on the white board.
-Students will be seated before the bell rings.
-If pencils need to be sharpened, sharpen them before the bell rings.
-Students will remain in their seats until the teacher dismisses them.

Computers:
-To protect our computer equipment, NO FOOD or DRINK will be allowed.
-Keep your work area clean.
-No Writing on Desks, Computers, Books, etc.
-Students are not allowed to tamper with or change settings on computers.
-Students are not allowed to “play” on the Internet or play games at any time.
-Students are not allowed to use any outside disks.

Leaving the classroom:
-Students will be given an individual Bathroom pass. Each pass entitles you to FOUR (4) trips to the bathroom from my class between September and January. I will sign your pass before each use. After you have used your passes, you may not use the bathroom during this class without a medical note.
- Leaving the class for any other reason will not be allowed unless a pass is provided prior to leaving.

Classroom Rules:
-No CDs, MP3 players. cell phones, PDAs, or personal game systems allowed.
-No Internet downloads or outside software allowed inside the classroom.
-No one allowed in storage cabinets unless accompanied by teacher.
-Students will sit in seats assigned by the teacher.
-Students are to be in the classroom at the proper time.
-Students will follow the directions of the teacher.
-Students will come to class prepared for instruction.
-Students will have pen and paper of their own with them at all times.
-Students will be on task and diligent in their studies.
-No sleeping or heads down on desks.
-Students are to be courteous to classmates and school employees.
-Students will not talk during group instruction or when otherwise directed by the teacher.
-Students will comply with all the rules listed in the NYCDOE behavior guidelines.
-The teacher has the right to modify or change any rules or procedures throughout the school year.

Homework Assignments:
-Homework will be assigned with due dates. No work will be accepted beyond the due date unless an excused absence is involved. Ongoing, daily homework is to check our class blog on blogger.com. You will find important info there.

Consequences:
First Offense: Warning
Second Offense: Note to Parents and writing assignment
Third Offense: Phone call to parents & conference with Guidance counselor & Detention
Fourth Offense: Joint conference with parent, student, teacher, and counselor & Detention
Fifth Offense: Dean's Office referral. Student will be assigned 1 to 10 days of Suspension
